University of Sarasota
The University of Sarasota was a private university focusing on business and education. It was founded in 1969 and headquartered in Sarasota, Florida and operated for 50 years. It offered bachelor, masters and doctoral degrees and was accredited by SACS.[1][2]
The University of Sarasota was acquired by the Argosy Education Group in 1992[3]. While in July 2001, Argosy Education Group was itself acquired by Education Management Corporation [4]
Two months later, Argosy Education Group brought together the American School of Professional Psychology, the Medical Institute of Minnesota, and the University of Sarasota under the Argosy University name[5]
In 2001 the University of Sarasota started operating as part of Argosy University, and did so for another 18 years until Argosy ceased campus operations on March 8, 2019[6]
