Unusual behaviour

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck". Animals and humans sometimes exhibit unusual behaviour in unusual circumstances.

Cattle grids[edit]

  • Cattle grids are installed on roads at gates to prevent animals passing while allowing cars and other vehicles to pass. They are not completely fool-proof as far as the animals are concerned. One sheep reputedly learned to bypass them by lying on its side and "rowing" with its feet.

Fell into well[edit]

  • Fell into well (draft). When such accidents occur, generally at man made wells, humans often feel obliged to rescue the stricken animals. Examples include big cats, dogs, horses, donkeys, baby elephant [1] etc.

Tongue caught on tooth[edit]

A big cat catches its tongue on a tooth, and may starve as a result. Knowing that humans are both clever and dangerous, seeking human help may be a solution. So it follows a group of boys making unusual and non-threatening sounds as it gets ever closer. The boys climb a tree to avoid the big cat, which lies on its back with its paws in the air. One boy climbs down to investigate. He sees the tongue caught on the tooth and releases it, and all live happily thereafter.

Strength in numbers[edit]

The following wildlife episode was caught on film. A calf is being attacked by a big cat (panther, cheetah, lioness, etc). Several of the adults in the hered defend the calf from the attacking the big cat, headbutting it with their horns. The big cat eventually gives up.

Getting sheep to follow[edit]

A flock of sheep risk drowning in a low-lying fenced paddock. The sheep do not see the danger of not moving to a higher paddock; preferring the security of the flock. The farmer unlocks the gate and carries one sheep out, hoping that the flock will follow. But the sheep runs back to to the flock, defeating this attempt at rescue.

The farmer remembers that three of the sheep are hand-reared. He calls them to dinner, "Milky! Milky! Milky!". These three sheep rush through the gate to higher , safer ground, and the flock follows.
