The Hammer Legacy and Artistic Journey
Tony Hammer is the brother of the famous artist Sid Hammer (1926–1969). A visionary in printmaking, Sid Hammer invented the "thermo-intaglio" technique and was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in 1963. His legacy is preserved in the permanent collections of The Met, MoMA, and the National Gallery of Art (as part of the Rosenwald Collection). Growing up in New York, Tony was immersed in this elite artistic heritage from birth.
At age 20, he moved to Puerto Rico to explore his own creative independence. He eventually relocated to Miami, where at the age of 25, he established himself as a professional gallery owner. Following his success in the Miami art scene, Hammer moved to California, where he spent 20 years as a successful entrepreneur in the cellular industry.
Throughout these decades in business, his artistic passion remained his foundation. After his tenure in California, he returned to South Florida to focus exclusively on expanding his professional portfolio and modern art practice.
