Usūl ad-Din (Arabic: أصول الدين) is an Arabic term meaning "tenets of religion" or "fundamentals of religion" used in an Islamic context to describe "knowledge with which one is able to prove religious beliefs by presenting arguments for them and dispelling doubts about them."[1][2]
Abu Hanifa referred to Usūl ad-Din as al-fiqh al-akbar (الفقه الأكبر 'the greatest fiqh').[2]
