The Gene L. Klida Utica Academy for International Studies (GLK-UAIS) is a public, magnet school through Utica Community Schools ucs which runs the International Baccalaureate ib curriculum. It is one of the most rigorous schools in the United States according to the Jay Mathews Challenge Index, which ranks it 56th. [1] The UAIS website claims that 87% of their students receive their IB diplomas, and that 99% of their students go to college. It is located in sterling heights sterling heights, Michigan.
Student Life entry process Students are required to take a math test, write an essay, and speak in a Socratic circle in order to gain entrance into the program. These tests are not particularly difficult, so afterwards, students are run through a lottery to determine who is accepted into the program. This is controversial among the students.
athletics UAIS does not have many athletic clubs: students are expected to go to their homeschools if they wish to participate in any sport. However, UAIS does offer one sports team: a powderpuff football team and cheer squad. There is a yearly game against the Macomb international Academy. UAIS has a
