V P Sanu is an Indian Politician and the National President of Students' Federation of India.[1] [2][3][4][5]

V P Sanu is the eldest son of V P Sakkariya, the District Secretariat Member of CPIM Malappuram District Committee. He was born in Valanchery, Malappuram District, Kerala. He did his graduation in B.Com from the MES Keveeyam College, Valanchery and completed his Masters in Social Work (MSW) at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady.

Political Career

The social and political activism of V P Sanu can be traced back to his involvement in Balasangam, a children's organisation having more than a million members in Kerala. During his school life, he was actively involved with Student’s Federation of India. He was the former District Secretary of SFI in Malappuram[6] and later got elected as the State Secretary of Kerala State committee of Student’s Federation of India. He was elected as the National President of SFI at the 15th All India Conference of SFI held at Sikar, Rajasthan in 2016.[7] He was re-elected as National President at the 16th All India Conference of SFI held at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh in 2018.[1][8] Sanu is now a district committee member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) at Malappuram, Kerala.

He openly declared support for Women in Cinema Collective and criticised Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) for their decision to take back actor Dileep, who was accused in the abduction and sexual harassment of an actress in Kerala.[9] He asked to reconsider decisions to invite actors affiliated with AMMA for SFI programmes.[10] Sanu has taken a strong position against moral policing.[11] During his term, SFI was able to expand the organisation into northern frontiers[12]. He has played a major leadership role in more than days of student protests at Calicut university against the then vice chancellor Abdul Salaam and has led marches demanding the implementation of a charter of demands.
