Valérie Schlumberger (born 1953) is a French writer, actress and philanthropist.
Biography[edit]
Schlumberger is descended from the Schlumberger brothers.
Schlumberger had a brief acting career and appeared in small roles in À Nos Amours and Dear Prudence.
In 1980, Schlumberger wrote the novel La tête au néon.
At the age of 16, Schlumberger married ethnologist, Christian Saglio.[1] The couple had three children: Marine Bramly, Noé Saglio and Ondine Saglio. Schlumberger moved from France to Senegal after her first marriage to support her husband's work and continued to split her time between Paris and Gorée after their divorce.
In 1995, she founded the Compagnie du Sénégal et de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (CSAO), a company dedicated to bringing the artwork of Senegalese and West African artists to France.[2] In 2005, she wrote Style Afrique, highlighting the work of some of the artisans she had worked with.
Schlumberger was married a second time to businessman Henri Jérôme Seydoux-Fornier de Clausonne. She had a further two daughters from her second marriage: stylist Camille Seydoux and actress Léa Seydoux.[3]
