Valin Shinyei (born on May 12, 2001) is a Canadian actor, dancer and voice-over performer. He was the lead in Super Dino[1] 16 Hudson, and others[2] various voice roles,[3] and A Christmas story 2. He danced for Justin Bieber's 2017 Purpose tour and was in various award winning musical theatre roles.[4]
Early life[edit]
Valin was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He initially attended a private international Bachelorette (I.B.) grade school until such time as acting and dance obligations necessitated he be homeschooled. Valin attended public high school where he graduated with honours in 2019.[5]
Career[edit]
Shinyei had lead roles in A Christmas Story (The Musical) as Ralphie Parker, A Christmas Story 2 (the Movie) as Randy Parker, Billy Elliot/Michael (The Musical), as Millton (Dead Hearts Mrs. Miracle as Jason Webster and The Client List as Brady Horton and is the current voice of Noddy (Noddy Toyland Detective), Derek Dynamo (Super Dino[6]) and Eddie (16 Hudson)on Netflix cartoon series. He can also be seen in Supernatural and Riverdale. During the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games, he passed the Olympic torch to the Russians during the closing ceremonies. On April 6, 2013 Shinyei hosted the 2012 THEA Awards Gala in Disneyland California. His performance in Billy Elliot brought him a Jessie Award for best supporting lead in a large scale musical.[7][8] Shinyei was nominated for two Young Artist Awards in 2013 for his performances in A Christmas Story 2 and Christmas Miracle. He won best supporting actor for the latter.[9]
