Valletta F.C.

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Valletta F.C. is a Maltese professional football club founded in 1943 through the merger of Valletta Prestons and Valletta St Paul's, with its origins tracing back to Valletta United, which won the Maltese championship in the 1914–15 and 1931–32 seasons.[1][2]

The club is one of the most successful in Maltese football, having won 25 league titles, 15 national cups, 13 Super Cups, one second-tier championship, and the Jubilee Cup.[1][3]

Valletta is regarded as Malta's most successful club in European competitions, being the only Maltese club to have played more than 100 European matches and having progressed to the next round on eight occasions.[1]

The club's all-time record holder for appearances, goals, and Malta national team caps is Gilbert Agius, with 623 appearances, 244 goals, and 115 international caps.[1]

During the 2021/22 season, Valletta was one of two Maltese football clubs sponsored by Meridianbet as part of an initiative to promote and support sport in Malta. Under the sponsorship agreement, which came into effect in October 2021, Meridianbet's logo appeared on the club's kits throughout the 2021/22 season.[2][4]
