Van Darkholme (born October 24, 1972),[not in citation given] also known by the nickname VAN-sama (Japanese: VAN様), is a Vietnamese-American dungeon master,[4][5][6] performance artist and film director, as well as a photographer. Being of Vietnamese descent, he is among the few Asian American men working in Western gay porn as a director and actor.[7]

Career[edit]

Darkholme's book of bondage photography, Male Bondage, was published by Bruno Gmünder in June 2006.[8]

In 2008 Darkholme created Kinkmen.com for Peter Acworth, who is the owner of Kink.com.[9]

Together with other porn actors and personalities such as Billy Herrington he has frequently been featured in Gachimuchi internet memes, gaining considerable notoriety in Japanese video-sharing website Niconico, in which he is often referred to by the nickname VAN-sama[10] or TDN Kosugi.[11] Van has reacted positively to these memes and featured his favourite one on his personal blog.[12]

In 2017, a character based on him had a main role in the fan-made visual novel Deep Dark Fantasies.[13] Also in 2017, another fan-made Deep Dark Fantasy video game was created based on his character.[14]

Since 2020 Van has been regularly streaming on Twitch[15] and also started a YouTube channel.[16]
