Van Halteren Technologies is a Dutch engineering and manufacturing company with a history dating back to 1969. Founded by Aart van Halteren, an ambitious technical professions teacher, in Bunschoten, The Netherlands, the company began as Van Halteren Metaal, specializing in producing specialized metal products for local shopkeepers, including bakeries and milkmen.

History[edit]

As the demand for their products grew, Aart van Halteren invited his brother Joep van Halteren to join the expanding business. Subsequently, in 1972, son-in-law Izaak Veerman also joined, contributing to the company's commercial expansion. In the 1970s, a major turning point occurred for Van Halteren Technologies when they secured a significant contract to design and manufacture road wheels for military tracked vehicles. This marked the establishment of their road wheels division. The company's dedication to quality and innovation in defense products led them to further success.

In the 1980s, with a need for larger production facilities, Van Halteren Technologies relocated to the industrial estate De Kronkels in Bunschoten. This move provided them with the space and resources to continue their growth and expansion. The 1990s witnessed Van Halteren Technologies venturing into defense simulation systems. Their Howitzer Crew Trainers gained recognition and set the stage for designing, improving, and producing defense simulation systems for international clients.

Building on their reputation and expertise, the company expanded into land systems activities in 2004. They were awarded several significant contracts for the production of crucial land-based (sub)systems, including the Pzh2000 and the CV90. Additionally, they developed strong partnerships with the Dutch Ministry of Defense and various Original Equipment Manufacturers, enabling them to offer maintenance, repair, and overhaul services. Over the years, the demand for their products grew, leading to several expansions of their facilities in Bunschoten to meet the increased production capabilities.

In 2015, Van Halteren Technologies made a strategic acquisition, adding NOVEK Technical Solutions (formerly Stork Special Products) to their portfolio. This acquisition provided them with a new facility in Zwolle, along with a large spare parts department and a well-equipped facility specialized in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of engines and transmissions for heavy vehicles. Furthermore, this expansion allowed them to broaden their portfolio by entering the naval market with products and services like HVAC systems and NBC/CBRN filters.

Remaining true to their commitment to technical innovation and development, Van Halteren Technologies continued to seek opportunities to better serve their clients' needs. In 2022, the company acquired Bosch Rexroth Large Projects (formerly known as Hydraudyne), adding motion technology to their simulation department and introducing advanced drive and control technology. This acquisition also enhanced their naval portfolio with Replenishment At Sea (RAS) and Helicopter Transfer Systems. Throughout its journey from 1969 to 2022, Van Halteren Technologies has remained family-owned, maintaining a strong sense of personal involvement and a passion for technical excellence. The company places great emphasis on learning and development, exemplified by its educational department, the Van Halteren Academie. Each year, the academy carefully selects 10 talented trainees to study and work at Van Halteren Technologies. The dedicated educational professionals design a comprehensive training program that builds a solid foundation for technical professions, tailored to fit each trainee's background, talents, and interests. This approach ensures the development of skilled young professionals for Van Halteren Technologies.
