Biography
Vanny Goodfella was born in Newark, New Jersey on May 25th, 1975 at United Hospital. He got his start from selling mixtapes of underground music artists from New York & New Jersey when he was a Taxi Cab Driver commuting back & forth to sell them to his passengers. He started DJing online as a Audio Stream DJ on multiple online platforms during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Early Life
Vanny Goodfella is an entrepreneur who loved Hip-Hop, House, R&B, Reggae Music & Soca music. 2002-2012 he loved making mixtapes that he would often sell in Newark, Elizabeth, Jersey City, Rahway, Plainfield, Clark, Westfield, Carteret, Roselle Park, Garwood, Cranford, Perth Amboy, Avenel & Woodbridge, New Jersey areas. He would often network with women he met off social media sites in 2000-2012 like Facebook, Myspace, Black Planet, Mixed Race, POF, Mocospace, MyYearBook, MeetMe, ModelMayhem, Tagged, Adultspace & Air G. He would often take digital photos plus film photography of the local women at hotels or motels in Union County or Middlesex County in New Jersey and use the photos for mixtape covers, 4x6s photos and make magazines with some of the photos he did of them. When he was in high school in East Orange, New Jersey as a sophmore & senior he would frequently cut school to walk downtown Newark to buy House Music Mixtapes & Blend Tapes that were sold as cassette tapes for $5.00. He often would buy graffiti shirts with his name on them on Halsey Street in Newark, New Jersey right by where he purchased his favorite mixtapes that he loved to listen too while smoking weed on benches while sipping his favorite alcoholic beverages Gin & Juice, Mad Dog 20/20 or Old English. The music at the time was controversial, record breaking & Earth shattering. He often would find him self after school bringing home all of his school books to read them while he smoked Newport Cigarettes & listened to his favorite boom bap music artists at the time like Rakim, 2Pac, Mobb Deep, Capone N Noreaga, Mic Geronimo, Nature, Nas, Wu Tang Clan, Das Efx, Redman, Naughty By Nature, The Lost Boyz, Trigg Tha Gambler, Foxy Brown, The Firm, The Fugees, MC Breed, The Notorious B.I.G., Big L, Masta Ace, Lords Of The Undergound, Queen Latifah, Apache, Nikki D, Double X Posse, Twin Hype, M.O.P, Gangstarr, Jeru Da Damaja, Group Home, De La Soul, Shyheim Da Rugged Child, Tha Alkaholiks, A Tribe Called Quest, Da Beat Nutz, Cuious George, Poor Righteous Teachers, King Just, Pete Rock & Cl Smooth, King Sun, Digable Planets, Cypress Hill, Milk Bone, AZ, Cormega, Mobb Deep, Black Moon, Buck Shot Short, Heltah Skeltah, Smiff N Wessun, O.G.C., Sean Price, Cella Dwellaz, Smooth Tha Hustler, Nine, Big Ill Al Skratch, Father MC, Camp Lo, ED OG & The Bull Dogs & so many others. The Hip-Hop back then was so potent that most of the time you didn't even need to get high or drunk to feel lifted off the lyrics mashed with hardcore 808 beat drums sounds with dusty loop samples from old vinyl records that our parents use to listen too in their good old days. This was his favorite era that inspired him through out his lifetime. Along with love for science, mathematics & history real hardcore Hip-Hop became his foundation that held him down in the grimey 90's.
Career
He use to love driving truck when he was younger. He was a Liquor Delivery Driver, a Garbage Truck Driver & a Package Delivery Driver in his early 20s but then he walked away from being a truck driver to start working for taxi limousine services in the greater Tristate area. Often when business became slow during certain times of the year he would do security jobs or work with his friends as a H.V.A.C. helper. He also use to run a Hip-Hop website in 2012-2014 called MUSIC MAGAZIN3 0NLIN3. He would photos of underground models & do interviews of underground music artists around the world & also write reviews of their albums or mixtapes that he would embed on his website. He is currently working on House Music Blends that are chopped up with various instrumentals to give music from the 80's & 90's a brand new feel or appeal to people 50 years or older drums.
Lifestyle
Back in 1986 he learned how to make pause tapes where he would listen to the radio on Fridays & Saturdays to DJ's like Red Alert, DJ Chuck Chill & DJ Magic that would break fresh new music on the weekends. He would record songs then pause the tape & then press record again when a dope song was about to come on the Greater New York City area air waves. He would often go to local neighborhood record stores to buy cassette tapes so he could use them to make his beloved paused cassette mixtapes. He would listen to them frequently in portable Walkmans that came with headphones on his way to & from school. Good music was such an mental escape from sitting in a class for 8 hours a day 5 times a week.
He also loved watching Karate movies on Sundays that would come on the weekends on local television channels that was called Kung Fu Theater. He would often go to a movie theater called Irvington Castle Twin in Irvington, New Jersey to watch Martial Art movies, Black Exploitation Moves & Horror movies. This movie theater provided a community a place to belong to & a place to go where you could watch good movies for a cheaper price than your average movie theaters that were over priced. He use to go there with people that would sneak food in so they could al enjoy watching movies while eating all of the favorite foods they love from local pizza parlors or from their favorite fast food restaurants.
1995 came along and the music sound scape became more hardcore & the love in the community started to become more wishy washy. So many people he grew up with or was associated with started to have Bodega dreams or what we call neighborhood corner store King Pin schemes. Standing in front of your favorite local neighborhood store became a way of life for so many youths. It was our way of networking and also the best way to make fast money. At the time when people would go look for jobs the time spent waiting for call backs & interviews wasn't quite adding up. A lot of people want to do good things in life but it's hard as hell when it seems like the system was never created for them to become successful hardworking members of society. He often felt school only educated people & prepared people to be a slave to whatever depressing job they could find in their local communities or neighborhoods. He always realized over the years that you had to create your own hustle that works for you & stay in your own lane. What works for the next man or individual might no work for you but what you create for your self to be successful might not just work for everybody else either.
1999-2008 was a very good unique time filled with more ups than downs. The music became more fast paced, the hood famous lifestyle now became more obtainable for people due to technology. Cell Phones, AOL Chat Rooms, Yahoo Chat Rooms & Pay Phones on the block constantly keep people in contact with each other. You no longer had to wait in front of a corner store or Bodega to see people that you needed to see. It opened up a bigger world where we started to branch out to other people all over the tristate area. Networking & grinding became different because you was no longer just bound to you neighborhood, town or city any longer. We use it to our advantage at the time to meet women from different areas. We self titled this era "The Jump Off Era" because it was mostly based on young people having nothing but love for each other and women just wanted to get out the house to have good fun times with various guys from different hoods in New Jersey.
Street walkers & hoes also gave this era a whole other appeal which was called "Pay To Play!". You could cut take a short cut by just paying a woman you wanted to have sex with instead of wasting your personal or valuable time on a date with her to get directly what you wanted to with her in the first place without wasting too much time on her. It worked out for a lot of men because after work they no longer had to spend useless hours on the phone with these women or spend unnecessary hard earned money on them when they use to take women out on dates.
The best things about the Jump Off Era compared to todays modern era is that their was way more privacy back then & what you did behind close doors or sometimes outside nobody had all of your personal business on videos or spread it all over the internet to gossip about. What we did back then we really enjoyed it & was only understood amongst like minded individuals or misunderstood like minded people.
Musical Career
Vanny Goodfella always had a love for Gospel Music from Chicago, Illinois, Newark, New Jersey, New York City, New York & Baltimore, Maryland areas. He fell in love with the gritty God influenced gospel inspired lyrics of having faith & hope that was mixed over groovy sounding instrumentals with music artists that had strong vocal chords they used to sang over these classic melodies. He started using computers, midi piano keyboards, drum pads & program sequencers to create his own signature for modern day house music tracks.
