Plot
The story revolves around a poor family in which the main character, Akila, is a busy working woman who fell in love and married Jeeva. After some misunderstandings, the couple separate, and Akila is left with her child with Jeeva's family. She has to manage to look after her family as well as her child. Jeeva goes to Dubai for work. However, Jeeva gets into trouble as he falsely disappears and isn't found, and Akila is worried. With the help of her uncle Sinraas (Manoharan), he helps Akila with her problems regarding Jeeva's disappearance and finds out that a woman named Shenbagam loves Jeeva. Shenbagam gets revenge on Akila and tries to make Jeeva fall in love with her, getting rid of Akila. She tries to divorce Akila for Shenbagam and at one point attempts to marry her. A turning point takes place when Jeeva learns of all the wrongdoing Shenbagam did and is upset, regretting leaving Akila.
A subplot takes place with a new family introduced to Akila's mother, Annamma. Annamma works very hard to earn money for her family's income. She helps by doing service for a lady named Mangalam who has a good business called 'Vasantha Vilaas'. She has three daughters-in-law and grandchildren, and everyone is happy in their family. Annamma gets to know each and everyone, and the story simultaneously shows the bonding each family member has and how important it is for happiness. Meanwhile, false accusations arise, such as Jeeva trying to murder Shenbagam, and he goes to jail for this blame. In fact, Shenbagam is murdered by her twin sister Marikolundhu, who puts the blame on Jeeva. Akila's friend Nandhini (Shamitha) captures Marikolundhu's assistant and gets bail for Jeeva. Finally, Akila and Jeeva reunite, and their families come together, wishing their happiness to last forever.
After Akila's story ends, the story shifts to Nandhini and how she brings up her younger sister Gowri (Shabanam). Several incidents take place regarding her mother-in-law Shakthi (Sangeeta), who tried to get her married to her son Chandru, but it didn't happen as he passed away. With the help of Shakthi, Nandhini gets married to a businessman, Nandhu, and her sister Gowri gets married to Vichu (Rajkamal). Problems arise when Nandhu is a suspicious man doing criminal things with the help of their home servant Savithiri. He also teams up with Shakthi's nemesis Roopa (Nagalakshmi) to become wealthy and snatch Shakthi's fortune. Nandhu goes to jail for a case involving a woman named Dheena and her child Preethi. In the climax, Roopa is admitted to the hospital after an incident and apologises to Nandhini for the unlawful deeds she had done. Nandhu gets released from jail due to misleading information and wholeheartedly reunites with Nandhini. In the climax, Nandhini, Nandhu, Vichu and Gowri are happy and celebrate their daughter's birthday. Roopa recovers and comes to visit Nandhini. Nandhini brings Roopa to join in and celebrate. The story ends with Nandhini's aunt (maami) hoping their families will be united and wishes for 'Vasantham'.[1]
