Vaya Adventures
Vaya Adventures is an American tour operator based in Berkeley, California, that specializes in customized international travel itineraries.[1][2] It was founded in 2004 by Jim Lutz.[3]
History
Jim Lutz, a graduate of Harvard University and a former lawyer, founded Vaya Adventures in 2004. The name “Vaya” (Spanish for “go” or “let’s go”) reflects the company’s origins in South and Central American travel.[4][5] It initially specialized in custom private tours in South and Central America.[4][5] In subsequent years Vaya expanded its offerings to include destinations in Africa, Europe, Asia, Australasia, and the Polar regions.[5]
Operations
Vaya Adventures is a privately-owned company headquartered in Berkeley, California, and is a registered Seller of Travel in California. Jim Lutz, the President of Vaya, is also president of the International Galápagos Tour Operators Association (IGTOA), which supports conservation and community education in the Galápagos Islands.[6]
Vaya Adventures designs custom travel itineraries for individuals, couples, families, and small private groups. Vaya also facilitates small-ship expedition cruises in the Galápagos, Europe, the Amazon, Patagonia, Southeast Asia, Antarctica and the Arctic.[4][7][8]
