Veaceslav Jiglițchi
Veaceslav Jiglitski (ro: Veaceslav Jiglițchi) (born 6 February 1970 Slobodzei (Moldova) is a Moldovan sculptor known for his monuments and park sculptures, which are installed in Moldova, Ukraine, Portugal and Romania.
Biography[edit]
Veaceslav Jiglitski was born on 6 February 1970 in Slobodzei (Moldova) into a family of builders (his father was Polish, from Łódź, and his mother was Ukrainian, from Odesa). He currently lives in Chisinau.[1]
He graduated from the 53rd Secondary School in Chișinău and the Shchusev Art School. He later completed his studies at the A. Plămădeală College of Arts[1]. In 1995, he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at the Academy of Music, Theatre, and Fine Arts in Chișinău.[1][2]
Veaceslav has been a member of the Union of Artists of Moldova since 1994.[1]
He is married to sculptor Tatiana Jiglițcha (Bazarova).[2]
Together with the Moldovan sculptor Veaceslav Zaitsevhe, he co-founded the creative studio JZ&B Studio.[3]
Creativity[edit]
Veaceslav Jiglitski is the author of more than 150 monuments and sculptures located in cities across Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and Portugal[1].
Including monuments to Józef Piłsudski[4], Pope John Paul II[5], Adam Mickiewicz[6], Carol Schmidt[7], Romanian King Ferdinand I[8] and many others.
Awards[edit]
- In 2022 he was awarded the Medal of Honour for Services to Polish Culture[9]
- Honourable citizen of Chisinau (since 2019).[1]
- Winner of the Thomas Bach Prize for the development of sport in the arts.[1]
- Winner of the Adam Mickiewicz Prize.[1]
- Winner of the International Olympic Committee Award.[1]
