VeloViewer
VeloViewer provides cyclists, runners, and swimmers with analysis of Strava data and offers insights and visualizations, including 3D graphics.[1]
12 men's UCI WorldTeam cycling teams, including Team Sky[2] and Team Ineos[3], 5 women's cycling teams, and 4 national cycling teams use VeloViewer.
Teams participating in the Tour de France and other Grand Tours use VeloViewer to help with route information and provide precise instructions to riders via their headsets.[4]
Riders like Matthew Hayman, Sylvain Chavanel and Michal Kwiatkowski have used VeloViewer.[5] [6] Cycling clubs use VeloViewer leaderboards to compare rider times[7] and share tips.[8]
VeloViewer visualizations appear in national press articles to display route profiles[9] and in specialized cycling websites and blogs.[10] [11] [12] [13]
History
VeloViewer was founded in 2014 in Sheffield, UK, by Ben Lowe, a computer programmer with a passion for cycling.[14] It started with a 2D visualization for the general public and a 3D route viewer. A £10 subscription service was added in 2015. In 2016, VeloViewer began working with Team Sky and developed a live app.[15] Now, UCI WorldTeams use VeloViewer for advanced pacing strategies, and riders and support cars use real-time information to determine their distance from route markers like roundabouts, corners, and other features.[16]
VeloViewer supported the Sheffield Urban Cross junior races in 2018.[17]
