Ver Varias
Virgilio "Ver" Varias (born July 2, 1952), also known by his stage name Ver Varias, is a Filipino politician and philanthropist currently serving as a Board Member of Sangguniang Panlalawigan 8th District of Cavite, Philippines since 2019. Before serving as one of the Board Members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan 8th District of Cavite, Philippines, he started to gain notability as the Mayor of Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines. In 2001, he was elected, and was re-elected in 2007–2019 as then-Vice Mayor Randy Salamat's running mate.
Identified as a populist, Varias has described his leadership style as akin to his beliefs for the betterment of the town, citing his commitment to reducing crime and maintaining the cleanliness of Alfonso. Varias is also noted for his low-profile public image due to his unspoken achievements coupled with a variety of accomplishments done for the said town. As a result, he was catapulted into prominence and is colloquially referred to as "BM" short for Board Member.
In October 2021, Varias announced his bid for the mayoral post in the 2022 election.[6]
