Vesselin Kristianov Nedelchev[1][2] ( /vɛsɛlin kristiɑnɔv nɛdɛltʃɛv/; born September 26, 2000) or Vez ( /Vez/), also known under his musical name ¥oon[3] ( /iuun/ ) and his short creative moniker VNtage[4] (/vintage/), is a Bulgarian mixed media artist that has notable works as a director, writer, designer and musician. After graduating high school in Sofia, Bulgaria, Nedelchev moved to attend university in Milan, Italy. There he attended Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti where he studied Multimedia Design and Production while specialising in Advanced Screenwriting. Together with his classmate and colleague they created their most successful project to date which is their debut short movie Metamorphosis ( 2024 ).
Early Life
Vesselin Nedelchev was born in Sofia, on September 26, 2000; he was living in Mladost Sofia until he moved to Madrid, where his mother and father were living at the time, because his mother was attending university in Madrid.
After his family moved back to Sofia he moved to the town of Novi Iskar ( New Iskar ). He lived with his grandparents there until he got accepted in the American College of Sofia ( considered to be one of the best high schools in Bulgaria ).
During high school Vesselin was on the track and field[5] team, played basketball semi-professionally for several teams like Lokomotiv Sofia, Akademik Sofia, ACS JV and Varsity, NALB[6] and others. He had prominent ambitions to play basketball professionally, however a few severe injuries stopped him from pursuing basketball as a career.
Education
In 2020 he moved to Milan, where he attended Nuova Accademia Di Belle Arti, where he got his Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Design and Production, while specialising in Advanced Screenwriting.
In Milan he became close friends with his collaborator Tommaso Mazzarini. They both attended the same classes and quickly became collaborators on multiple projects both in school and out of school. They filmed two commercials for HONOR Magic Pro 4[7] a Huawei Company[8], which gathered some online attention. They shot a documentary about a Netflix TV Series from the producer Thierry Sadoun[9], which concerned Paris Fashion Week and is yet to be released.
Their most notable work came to fruition when they started working on their graduation film.
Career
In 2023 Vesselin and Tommaso Mazzarini started working on their debut film Metamorphosis[10]. Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky and Michelangelo Antonioni, they developed their tech noir screenplay.
The movie featured prominent Bulgarian actors Koyna Ruseva and Penko Gospodinov playing alongside Simeon Tsankov as the main protagonist.
The movie was featured at Manaki Brothers Film Festival[11] in Macedonia where Vesselin and fellow crew members attended , and recently got selected in the official selection of Sofia Film Festival[12][13][14]
