Vesta Johnson

Vesta Johnson (born 1922 in Linn County, Missouri) is a professional fiddle player.

Early Life

Growing up her family did not have much to be entertained by so instead they made music which was how Vesta learned to play the fiddle[1]. Once she began her start in the music world she picked up playing the fiddle and slowly increased her skill in playing the instrument.


Career

She formed a group called Missouri Fiddlers and Country Music Association (MFCMA) in 1947[2]. For about thirty years she has been playing her fiddle on the stage for the MFCMA along with giving lessons to others on how to play the fiddle. She is best known for her music and receiving the Missouri Arts Award for Cultural and Artistic Contributions to Missouri.
