Vicia brulloi
In this issue, [1] scientists discuss a new plant species called Vicia brulloi in the Peloritani mountains in the northeast part of Sicily, Italy. This plant is a kind of perennial vine that grows near rivers and in forests. It's closely related to another plant called Vicia pisiformis, which is found in different parts of Europe.
What is particularly unique about the Vicia brulloi is that one of the parts of the flower, called the calyx, has a green leafy part instead of a normal tooth-like structure. This is unusual for plants like this, and it's a feature that scientists haven't seen in any other Vicia species.
