Victoria Jane Broom is a British actress and LGBTQ activist originally from Shropshire in the West Midlands. Victoria has had regular roles in Marcella (TV series), Eastenders ,Gangs of London (TV series) and has recently starred in Clerkenwell Films latest comedy series Cheaters (2022 TV series) now on BBC iPlayer 2022.[1]

Early life[edit]

Broom trained at the Central Junior Television Workshop in Birmingham, moving to London at the age of 18 to star in a musical at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. She continued to work in the theatre, with credits including Shakespeare's Globe. She has worked in screen since 2001.

Career[edit]

Her screen credits include Cheaters (2022 TV series) , Wonder Woman 1984 , Marcella (TV series), The Bisexual, EastEnders, Doctors (TV series) [2] , Viking Destiny Gangs of London (TV series) . Victoria was cast as Karen in the new Clerkenwell Films short form comedy series Cheaters (2022 TV series) .

In 2017 Victoria was nominated and won the Rising Star award for her portrayal of Sasha Kyte in Marcella (TV series) at the Diva (magazine) awards,[3]she also won the People's choice award for her portrayal of Fran in the LGBTQI series Different for Girls. [4] [5]

Activism and Personal Life[edit]

Victoria was listed as the 56th most influential LGBTQI person in the United Kingdom as part of The Guardian Pride Power List, Pride Special in 2018[6] As well as previous years ranked 86th [7]. Victoria is constantly campaigning for LGBTQI rights, and Lesbian visibility.[8] Pushing for authentic lesbian representation on screen.[9] The Pride Power List is published every year on the day of Pride in London .

She was recently part of the documentary about the legendary Gateways club, which shines a light on the historical lesbian club which closed its doors in 1985. The documentary had its premiere at the BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival in March 2022.[10]

Victoria was an under 19's National Champion in kung fu at the age of 15 years old. But now prefers Cycling and Mountain climbing.
