Victoria LaBillois is a Canadian entrepreneur, economic development advocate, and Mi’kmaq community leader from Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation, Quebec. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick.[1]
Entrepreneurship
LaBillois is the founder and president of Wejipeg Excavation Inc., established in 2011 to participate in major infrastructure and wind energy development projects while creating employment opportunities for Mi’kmaq tradespeople. She is also president and co-owner of Wejuseg Construction Inc. and is involved in other joint ventures aimed at economic growth and Indigenous labour engagement.[2]
Service
She has served in various roles within the Indigenous public service at the band, regional, and national levels, demonstrating her commitment to community and economic reconciliation.[1]
Since 2021, LaBillois serves as a Vice-Chair of the National Indigenous Economic Development Board (NIEDB), a federal advisory body composed of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis business and community leaders that provides strategic policy advice on Indigenous economic development. She has been a member of the board since 2018.[3]
Awards
She has been recognized nationally for her leadership and entrepreneurship. LaBillois was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network in both 2019 and 2020, and in 2024 she received a prestigious Indspire Award in the Business and Commerce category.[4][5]
Community engagement
In addition to her business leadership, LaBillois is actively engaged in mentoring Indigenous women and youth. She has served as a mentor in leadership and business accelerator programs and teaches financial literacy skills to young people.[6]
