Victron Energy B.V. is a Dutch company based in Almere. It specializes in the development and production of off-grid power supply solutions such as photovoltaic inverters, battery chargers and UPS systems. The company's products are used worldwide in various applications, including marine, recreational vehicles, Industry and in off-grid areas.[1]
History
In 1975 Reinout Vader founded Victron Energy to meet the growing need for robust and reliable power supplies for use in harsh environments. The trigger for this was the increasing demand for ways to use household appliances on board ships. This required special power supplies that enabled the operation of the devices even away from shore power connections, especially in Yachting.[2][3]
Over the years, the company has expanded its product portfolio and expertise to meet the needs of various markets. In 2016, Victron Energy partnered with Fronius to expand the photovoltaic system of a Spanish grain producer and equip it with an uninterruptible power supply.[4]
Victron Energy is a member of the Alliance for Rural Electrification.[5]
