The Vienna Opera Festival / Wiener Festspiele was founded in Vienna in summer 2019. The Vienna Festival is an opera festival with an emphasis on classical and romantic operas. The season runs from mid-July to the end of August every year. The venues are the Mozarthaus Vienna, Palais Eschenbach, Palais Palffy, Muth - the concert hall of the Vienna Boys' Choir and the Musikverein. Jesus Leon is the director of the festival and Toby Purser is the music director. The festival has its own orchestra, the Vienna Sinfonia Orchestra. In 2020, a reduced version of the artistic offer and the played period took place due to Covid-19.
