Nga Nguyễn, who is the daughter of a steel magnate, and her sister Nguyễn Hồng Nhung, went to fashion shows like Gucci in Milan on February 19 and Saint Laurent in Paris on February 25 . The sisters took a trip to Europe until March 1 and they documented the tours and trip on their now deleted Instagram profiles. One of the sisters reportedly developed a cough. On March 1, they landed back in Vietnam.[1][2]

Tests and aftermath[edit]

They were tested when they got back to Vietnam and the sisters tested positive for COVID-19 on March 6. After Nga Nguyễn posted an image on herself in a hospital bed with a face mask, the sisters deleted their Instagram accounts. People who were with Nhun on the fashion tours and with her on the plane also tested positive and were self-quarantined.[1][2]

Famous singer mistaken for Patient No. 17[edit]

A famous singer of the same name as the second sister (Nguyễn Hồng Nhung [vi] ) has been mistaken for the sister in question. On a Facebook book she posted on March 6th, she expressed bewilderment when the number of followers increased, possibly due to the mistake. Multiple people texted her messages about terrorism and many of her friends set sympathy towards her for going through these troubles.[3]
