The Villa Ravera is a historic home in Ivrea, Piedmont, Italy.
History
The building was built in 1897 as the home of Federico Demaria, a doctor at the local Ivrea Hospital. He had married Angela Baratti, who belonged to the well-known family of sugared-almond makers from Milan. During the Italian Civil War, the house was taken by the Germans, serving as the local headquarters of their troops.[1] In 1946, the Demaria family sold the villa to Filippo Bertoletti, the owner of an umbrella factory in Ivrea. However, he sold it shortly after in order to meet debt payments. The property was then bought by the Oderio family for their daughter Olga.[2]
Architecture
The house displays a Renaissance Revival style.
The building is the result of a complex articulation of several volumes, including the main one, which is two stories tall, porches, loggias and a three-story high terraced avant-corps. The façades are intentionally asymmetric and feature bossage on the ground floor walls and brickwork on the higher levels.[3]
