Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty (VU KnF) is the only academic subunit of Vilnius University that is located in a different city. For as long as more than 55 years (since 1964), the Faculty is situated in a homely Old Town nook near the Aleksotas (otherwise known as Vytautas Magnus) bridge. The attractive premises of the 16th – 17thcenturies in the Muitinės Street, cozy Renaissance courtyards, arched cellars and unique classrooms decorated with niches and woodwork resemble the ensemble of the longstanding Vilnius University premises. Every living soul, whether a student, a staff member or a tourist, who visits the Faculty is fascinated by the Medieval architecture, a peculiar historic aura and cozy Faculty’s spaces which are perfectly tailored to the modern needs.
The Faculty has a competent staff of scientists, pedagogues and administration. The Faculty is interdisciplinary, i.e. it encompasses study programmes from three different fields of science: Humanities, Social and Physical Sciences (Informatics). The Faculty’s scientists carry out interdisciplinary scientific research which is coordinated by the Centre of Socio-cultural research.
The Faculty organises consistent studies in all three levels (Bachelor, Master and PhD), after-college studies and supplementary studies. All the study programmes employ up-to-date communication and information technologies, while students have the opportunity to collect as much practical skill as possible. Top students participate in the ERASMUS Exchange programme and go abroad to deepen their knowledge in universities abroad. Graduates of the Faculty can continue studies on the MA level: Audiovisual Translation, Financial Technology , Lithuanian Literature and Creative Writing, Marketing and Trade Management, Art Management, International Business Management, Sustainable Financial Economics, Public discourse linguistics.
After the MA studies, there is an opportunity to study on the third (PhD) level in the fields of Economics, Informatics, Philology, Management and Administration.
The applicants are offered BA level (first level) study programmes: English and Another Foreign Language (Swedish), Audiovisual Translation, Economics and Management, Lithuanian Philology and Promotion, Applied Systems of Finance and Accounting, Information Systems and Cyber Security, Software Systems, Marketing Technologies.
