Vinay Balaji
Vinay Balaji (27th April 1994) also well known as Nanna Prakara Vinay, is an Indian Film director, writer and editor from Bengaluru BANGALORE, located in South India. He startled the Sandalwood Industry Kannada Cinema in August 2019, with his debut film “ Nanna Prakara ," with its non-linear screenplay.

Early Life
- Vinay was born and brought up in Bangalore and he realized his love for creative art, editing and writing during the early stages of his life. He started off by taking up an editing course at Adarsha Film Institute and worked as a spot editor in various movies before he transitioned into working as a freelance VFX artist for many Kannada movies between 2013-2016.
- He also directed and wrote two short movies titled Camera and Money, while practicing at Zee Institutes. The short movie ‘Money’: length 1 minute was awarded ‘The Best Story Award’ in the annual Zee Institutes Celebrations held in Mumbai.
Director
- After his apprenticeship in the film industry for about 5 years where he polished his skills in writing, editing and direction under various renowned artists, he started directing his first film Nanna Prakara.
- Nanna Prakara is a 2019, Kannada language mystery thriller film, starring Kishore, Priyamani and Mayuri Kyatari in the lead roles. The movie was released on 23rd Aug 2019, which turned out to be a successful debut for Vinay theatrically and was well acclaimed on Amazon Prime Video later on. The dubbing rights have been given to other Indian languages.
- Vinay holds the Writer Card of the South Indian Film Writers Association (SIFWA) and is also a member of the Film Makers United Club
Reception
The New Indian Express wrote an article on Vinay, "VFX artist-turned-director Vinay Balaji talks to City Express about how the subject of Nanna Prakara is based on the concept of karma."[1]
Deccan Chronicle wrote, "Nanna Prakara is an adept and adequate crime thriller."[2]
The Times of India wrote, "For starters, he has two powerhouse performers — Kishore and Priya Mani — in the lead and he is confident about the strength of the content, which had his protagonists intrigued enough to work with him. “At the centre of the narrative is a murder mystery that Kishore, as Inspector Ashok, is investigating".[3]
