Vincent Scuro (born 1951) is an American writer and filmmaker whose career has spanned six decades.

Early life and education[edit]

Scuro was born to an Italian-American family in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey, graduated from Bergenfield High School[1] and later lived in Hillsdale, New Jersey[2] and Orlando, Florida. His post-high school academic work included degrees from Saint Peter's College, where he also played varsity baseball and performed with the concert band, and Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he received a master's degree.

Career[edit]

Scuro's first book, Presenting the Marching Band, was published by in 1974. It received a mixed review in Kirkus Reviews.[3]

He then wrote three science and nature books in the Dodd, Mead and Company Wonders series. He also co-authored eight books in the same series with Sigmund A. Lavine. His first of five novels was published in 2001. Scuro also was a sportswriter for the Saint Peter's College newspaper from 1971 to 1973, a staff correspondent for the Twin-Boro News from 1974 to 1975, a columnist for the Southwest Orlando Bulletin from 1992 to 2010, and a contributing writer for Satellite Orbit magazine and the Los Angeles Times from 1989 to 1992. He also has been involved in film production. He was Executive Producer and Archival Producer for Woman in Motion (2020), a documentary film that chronicles the efforts of Nichelle Nichols to recruit minorities and women for the US Space Shuttle program in 1977.[4] He also is credited as Property Master.
