Vipul Prabodh Shah is an Indian businessman and philanthropist.[1] Shah is the chairman of Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) established by the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of India. Shah has been elected as the chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) for a second term, from 2022 to 2024, having previously served in this role from 2012 to 2015.[2][1][3][4]
Shah played a vital role in India-UAE CEPA bilateral trade agreement, and also advancing trade agreements with GCC, the UK, EU and Canada. Under GJEPC, Shah is setting up a jewellery park in Mumbai and a gem bourse in Jaipur.[5][6]
Vipul Shah is also a board member of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), World Diamond Council, and Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).[7]
Early life and career[edit]
Shah started his career under the guidance of his father Prabodh Shah and his uncle Dinesh Shah who were artisans in Diamond trade. In 1996, Shah listed his family company Asian Star on the Bombay Stock Exchange and in 1999 Vipul Shah ventured into the world of Jewellery. In 2012, he was appointed as the chairman of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).[7] As the chairman of Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Shah organized GJEPC's first World Diamond Conference which was attended by Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.[8]
Vipul Shah is the CEO and Managing director of Asian Star Co. Limited.[9] He has created a huge network of global distribution and grown company's jewellery business under his leadership. His company Asian Star indulges in diamond manufacturing, jewelry manufacturing and retail divisions with a strong presence in Asia, Europe and America.[10][8]

Vipul Shah, managing director of Asian Star has voiced for being a sociallly progressive company. His company has established a primary school at Takarwada, Gujarat, India and started to give back to the society by building a school in their native village back in 2004.[13] Asian Star has associated itself with the Ministry of Education in the Indian state of Gujarat and the Tribal Integrated Development and Education Trust, to assist a significant number of school children with disabilities. They are also helping in the Adivasi area of Vikramgad, Maharashtra, to provide children with improved educational facilities. Asian Star has also assisted in imparting Vedic literary education to 80 students from 13 different Indian states through the residential Gurukulam system.[13]
