Visuality Systems
Abstract
Visuality Systems Ltd. is a software company with headquarters in Yokneam Illit, Israel. The company develops Server Message Block (SMB) solutions for embedded systems and for Storage servers.
History
Visuality Systems was co-founded in 1998 by Sam Widerman.[1], former CEO of Siemens Data Networks. Initially, the company was established[2][3] as an Israeli-Jordanian joint venture[4] with 14 employees in Amman, Jordan and three in Yokneam Illit, Israel. This cooperation ended in 2000 with the rise of the Second Intifada and Visuality Systems continued its operation in Yokneam Illit.
In 2005 the company started its operations in Japan through a partnership with IT Access.
Technology and Products
From its establishment and to now Visuality Systems is focused on the SMB protocol. The family of company's products is called NQ, which means Net Quick. NQ comprises the following products:
- YNQ (former NQE) is a portable SMB solution for embedded systems. YNQ is written in the C language and supports SMB Client and SMB Server.
- jNQ is a Java solution. To date, it supports SMB Client only.
- NQS is an SMB solution for Storage servers, also written in the C language.
All the above are software libraries, which requires integration inside the target software solution. The company products use portability approach (not fully applicable to jNQ), which allows them to be used in different operating systems. For instance, NQE was among a few software solutions ported into ITRON. See also [5]
Since 2007 Visuality Systems is participating in annual SDC Conference with a certain contribution to the SMB/CIFS community[6] [7][8]
