Vochysia tucanorum is a species of dicotyledonous plant in the Vochysiaceae family. It was first described by German botanist Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius in 1826.

It is a self-sustaining plant thanks to its C3 photosynthetic properties, living in terrestrial biomes.

Description

It typically grows to about 8–12 m (26–39 ft) tall with a dense spherical crown. It has broad simple leaves, which makes its structure so dense, unlike conifer evergreens. They have a whorled arrangement of leaves at the node. This plant can be identified as a dicot with a netted vein venation.

Distribution

V. tucanorum can be found in northeast and southeast Brazil, Bolivia, Suriname and Paraguay.[1] It is found in dry tropical and subtropical forest biomes.[2]
