Voleti Venkateshwarlu (27 August 1928 - 29 December 1989) was a prominent Carnatic musician and All India Radio personality. The musical metaphors and yakshaganas broadcast under his leadership brought fame to Vijayawada Radio Station across the country.

Music career[edit]

He was born in 1928 in Rajamundry, Andra Pradesh. He had his training in music from C. Achutaramaiah and Munuganti Venkatarao Pantulu. Under Dr Sripada Pinakapani, he perfected his music. Fond of Hindustani music, Venkateswarulu used to sing many Hindustani ragas at the end of his concerts. He graduated from Andhra University. He used to sing mostly the kritis of Saint Thagaraja and a few compositions of Muthuswami Dikshitar, Shyama Sastri, Patnam Subramania Iyer, etc.[1]
