The Vratnica attack (Macedonian: Напад на Вратница, Albanian: Sulmi i Vratnicës) was a bloodless skirmish that took place in the village of Vratnica, North Macedonia, when an armed group named the Albanian National Army (ANA, AKSh) attacked the police station stationed there. At around 1 a.m, the ANA, led by Agim Krasniqi and the Krasniqi Group, shelled the police station on 11 July by mortars.[4] The attack left part of the police station damaged.
Aftermath
Four days later, on 16 July 2005, Ramadan Shiti commanded an attack on the biggest police station in Bit Pazar, located in Old Bazaar, Skopje, Skopje.[4] Shiti was later arrested, but escaped and fled to Kosovo.[4]
On 7 November 2007, the special police forces of the Republic of Macedonia launched a military operation against the Jakupi Group, led by Lirim Jakupi. It was a Macedonian government victory,[5] and led to the disbandment of the Jakupi Group,[5][6][7] as well as the arrest of Lirim Jakupi.[6]
Between March and April 2010, two border shootouts happened on the Kosovo–Macedonian border, with the first one ending in a Macedonian victory,[8] while the second one ended with a ANA victory.[9][10]
