Vuelve a la vida (English: Your life is back) is an upcoming Venezuelan film directed by Luis Carlos Hueck and Alfredo Hueck in association with the company Eye Hooke Creative Collection and the network company SimpleTV (previous DirecTV). The main cast include José Ramón Barreto, José Roberto Díaz, Crisol Carabal, Eulalia Siso, Shakti Maal among others. The film tells the history of Ricardo, a young man that develops a fatal illness and fights against the medical condition with the help of his family. Vuelve a la vida is scheduled to be premiered on the 14 December of 2023 in national theaters.[1]

Plot

In 1996 Ricardo returned to Caracas after a one-year exchange in New York. During a trip to the beautiful coast of Venezuela, while traveling with his friends, Ricardo suffered a very severe pain, and this changed his life and the family’s life forever.[2]

Cast

Production

According to Luis Carlos Hueck, after the success of Papita, Maní, Tostón, he and his brother Alfredo wanted to tell a personal history.

The film was shot in Caracas between March and November 2016. Additional scenes were filmed in Los Roques. The COVID-19 outbreak delayed the post-production for at least half a year.[3]

The movie tells a personal chapter in the life of Luis Carlos Hueck.

The streaming network Simple TV supports the production, but it’s unclear what the terms of the agreement are.

Your life is back won a special recognition in the Venezuelan Film Hub association.

In the middle of 2019, the Hueck brothers traveled to Cancun to hold an international meeting with producers, and they presented the idea of a TV series based on the film.[4]

Reception

The film was part of the 2023 Guadalajara Film Festival, where it was chosen among its seven best films.[5][6]
