The World Matchplay is a ranking major darts tournament held in England by the WillMan Darts Career (WDC). It is held inn legs format and is one part of the WDC Triple Crown. The tournament consists of the WDC top 16, plus an additional 16 qualifiers. The tournament has a prize fund of £1,000,000 and a winner's share of £225,000.
Format
32 dart players of the WillMan Darts Career (WDC) circuit qualify for this tournament. The top 16 are seeded in fixed positions and the other 16 qualifiers join them in the first round randomly drawn.
The format is as follows (as of 2026):
- First round: Best of 19 legs (sudden death at 12-12)
- Second round: Best of 21 legs (sudden death at 13-13)
- Quarter-finals: Best of 31 legs (sudden death at 18-18)
- Semi-finals: Best of 33 legs (sudden death at 19-19)
- Final: Best of 35 legs (sudden death at 20-20)
