WEduShare is a Cambodian EdTech company located in Phnom Penh. Established in 2016, the company focuses on creating a platform to address Cambodian youth’s lack of information by spreading learning opportunities via the Internet.[1] Its website is devoted to helping young Cambodians access information[2].
WEduShare is an integrated, one-stop platform for providing trusted information about local and international scholarships, exchange programs, conferences, competitions, events, workshops, training, volunteer opportunities, and internships. WEduShare is also a one-stop platform for articles related to a range of topics, including youth well-being and choosing a purpose-filled career.
History
In May 2016, WEduShare was initiated as a small startup business and later moved to TEKHUB, The Asia Foundation in December.[3][4] The sole idea was to build a convenient platform for youth to access information such as scholarships and exchange programs from all parts of Cambodia. With a strong belief in the power of sharing information and empowering the local youth to embark on the journey of higher education, WEduShare has formed a welcoming online community filled with high achievers.
Vision
WEduShare’s vision is to break down the barriers to higher education and provide life-changing opportunities for everyone.
Mission
WEduShare’s mission is to empower youth to embark on the exciting journey to higher education in a welcoming online community filled with high-achieving Cambodian youth. WEduShare believes in the power of sharing, motivating, and empowering Cambodian youth.
Events and Programs
Go Abroad with WEduShare is an annual scholarship and university fair organized by WEduShare. GAW aims to provide information regarding opportunities abroad for youth and their parents by bringing together different scholarship alumni, universities, and embassies abroad. Participants are offered the chance to inquire with education providers, scholarship alumni, and organizations for detailed information to increase the possibility of acquiring education abroad.
On May 7th, Go Abroad with WEduShare 2017 was held in Cambodia-Korea Cooperation Center (CKCC), Royal University of Phnom Penh welcoming college students, high school students, young professionals, and parents. 30+ alumni and representatives from more than 10 programs in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Thailand[5], and more participated in this fair.[6]
On March 18th, Go Abroad with WEduShare 2018 was held in Exchange Square.[7] In addition to programs that participated last year, there were a total of 30+ opportunities brought to GAW 2018 by about 120 alumni and representatives.
WEduTalk
WEduTalk is a live discussion with experienced figures on educational topics ranging from information with tips and strategies to apply for prominent opportunities to self-improvement topics such as how to achieve a high Grade Point Average (GPA) in university, how to deal with people's criticism, and how to live a plastic-free life. WEduShare recognized the inadequate amount of motivation in youth to achieve important tasks, believing this could be lessened by a platform that connects influential figures with the interested public. WEduTalk is live every Saturday from 14:00 to 15:00 on WEduShare's Facebook page.
Mentorship Program
Recognizing the absence of a platform for successful graduates or alumni to contribute effectively, and a platform where potential individuals could find essential tips and strategies to apply for similar opportunities but are unable to afford specialized training programs, WEduShare designed the Mentorship Program to network the two groups. Mentors and mentees work closely together to prepare for opportunities, engaging in weekly meetups where mentors share their experiences and explain the selection processes in detail so that mentees can adapt to the selection criteria, increasing the success rate.
Volunteering Changed My Life
Volunteering Changed My Life was an event organized for high school and university freshmen to participate in a small sharing session designed to motivate them to innovate and explore their potential, particularly through participation in social activities that result in positive changes for both society and themselves.[8]
Empowering Inside Out
Empowering Inside Out was a 3-day training program, co-initiated by WEduShare and Ignite Phnom Penh, to equip youth with 6 beneficial soft skills crucial during and after their experiences abroad and to help them stand out in today's society. These skills include Networking, Communication, Leadership, Time Management, Teamwork, and Public Speaking skills. This program primarily targeted students planning to continue their education abroad to prepare them for new circumstances in a new country. These soft skills are also beneficial to graduates returning to Cambodia who may struggle to adapt to the old culture, build networks and friendships, and find employment.
