WH Ireland Group PLC is a British financial services group quoted on the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market (AIM)[1] and provides Investment Management, Wealth Planning and Corporate & Institutional Broking services[2]. WH Ireland has 7 offices across the UK and 1 internationally in the Isle of Man.

History[edit]

The company was family-run until the 1970s when Jack Ireland retired. Today, the company still carries the name of its founder, William Henry Ireland, and can trace its roots back to the founding members and the first chairman of the Manchester Stock Exchange, John Railton[3], during the Victorian railway boom of the 1830s. The Manchester Stock Exchange was a branch of the London Stock Exchange and its function was to raise capital through joint stock issues for manufacturers, mineral extractors and railway companies. In 1927, in recognition of William's long association with the Railton name, he became a partner in the Railton firm which changed its name to W.H. Ireland Railton and Company.

In 2000, the company floated on the London Stock Exchange Alternative Investment Market (AIM)[4][5]

Opertions[edit]

The company had £2.6bn of assets under management and administration as at 31 March 2018.[6]
