WISE J064336.71-022315.4

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

WISE J064336.71-022315.4 or W0643 is a thick disk L8 brown dwarf, discovered in 2018, in the Gaia Data Release 2 catalog.[1][2]

Its parallax measurement suggests it has a distance of 13.9 ± 0.3 parsec to the sun. The spectrum was taken with TripleSpec on the Palomar 200''. Alongside the classification of the spectral type, the heliocentric radial velocity was measured as 142 ± 12 km s−1. After determining the Galacitc velocity, the authors of the paper estimated that W0643 passed within ~1.4 parsec away from the Sun ~100,000 years ago.[3]
