History[edit]
WMCT-TV was started back in 1984 by Prime Cable Company. Back then it was only one station. At first the name was “WMCT channel 30" which was later changed to “WMCT channel 3”. In 1998 the WMCT name was dropped and “m3" was born. Then a lineup change with the newest cable company, Comcast Cable, brought about “m8". In 2000 WMCT-TV gained another channel and this was named “m10" until 2004 when it took on the old favorite name of “WMCT”.
Current programming[edit]
Currently, WMCT-TV consists of two stations; Marlborough Access which broadcasts programs which are broadcast over local Comcast cable channel 96, created by the public and WMCT which broadcasts programs over local Comcast cable channel 8 or Verizon channel 34 created by the staff at WMCT. WMCT produces several regular programs, including a weekly newscast focused in the Marlborough area.
