Walther M1918 Machine Pistol
The Walther M1918 Machine Pistol (De: Maschinenpistole Walther) is a Submachine gun created by Fritz Walther in 1918 for use by the German Empire in World War I.
The Walther M1918 Machine pistol is chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum and utilizes a helical magazine with a Short-recoil operation. It was created in 1918 in response to the need for a light Submachine gun, but was made obsolete by the war ending 6 months following it's patent.[1]

2 types of the M1918 were submitted for testing, a version with a wooden butt stock and another with a lighter frame and a pistol grip. Although submitted for testing, it was overshadowed by the introduction of the MP 18. This gun proved incredibly effective and Germany did not see a need for a second submachine gun.[2]
Not much is known about the M1918, as it remained an experimental prototype and never truly reached production.
