In September 1956, Wang was transferred to the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, where he successively served as Director of the Production Department, Director of the General Office, Secretary of the Secretariat, and a member of the Party Leadership Group. During the Cultural Revolution, he was politically persecuted and suffered setbacks.[5]

After 1972, Wang was appointed Secretary of the CCP Haidian District Committee of Beijing and Director of the Haidian District Revolutionary Committee. He later served as deputy director of the Beijing Revolutionary Committee Construction Commission and Director of its Political Department.[6][7]
