The Public Speaking Society at The University of Warwick is a public speaking society at the University of Warwick.[1] The society specialises in training students in improving their speaking skills before an audience. From 2005-2007, the Society was a Toastmasters International Gavel Club, before regaining membership in 2012.[2]
History
The Public Speaking Society at The University of Warwick, formally known as Warwick Speakers, established in November 2005 as a Toastmasters Club. Although it is engaging in similar activities as Toastmasters, it also includes an educational part in the session. Furthermore, it runs an annual Inter-University Competition.[3][4]

The Public Speaking Society at The University of Warwick’s executive team oversee the running of the club and represent the society in all capacities.[5]

Sessions
The society used to meet every Tuesday at 7.15pm in University term time at OC1.01 at the University of Warwick. [5] In 2020/21 academic year, the events occurred at the same time but virtually due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Competitions
The society also runs two annual competitions. The first, an internal competition, was first held on 5 December 2012. The other competition, The Inter-University Competition, was last held in February 2020 and operates annually.[6] Due to the spread of COVID-19, in February 2021 the competition was replaced by Inter-University Public Speaking Forum as a one-off event.
