Prince Wasajja Kiwanuka (born 29th February 1980) is a royal prince of Buganda kingdom, the largest traditional kingdom in Uganda. Prince Wasajja is a Professor of Language and Communication.
Personal life
He is a nephew to the current king of Buganda kingdom Ronald Edward Frederick Kimera Muwenda Mutebi II. He is a son to the late Prince Nakibinge Vicent and Maureen Nalukwago, grandson of the late Prince Mutebi James Sekannyo (a brother to Kabaka Muteesa II of Buganda). Prince Wasajja is a great-grandson of Kabaka Daudi Chwa II.[1]
Education
Prince Wasajja Kiwanuka attended Lubiri Secondary School. In 2004, he joined Kyambogo University for a Diploma of Education in Industrial and Fine Arts. In 2008, he joined Makerere university for a Master of Education in English and Literature. In 2007, he attended Kampala university for a M.E.D in English and Literature Education and in 2014 he joined American University for a Ph.D. in English Communication. Prince Wasajja is a Professor of English and Communication at University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies.
Career
Prince Wasajja was in February 2006 appointed as programs coordinator for the kabaka foundation and was responsible for overseeing all the Cultural and Tourist sites including Kasubi Tombs, Mengo Palace and Kabaka’s Lake. He joined Kampala University as Graduate School Administrative Assistant in 2010. He later became the Assistant Registrar of Kampala University Masaka Campus. He worked as the first Director of Distance and In-service Programmes at St. Lawrence University in 2015. He participated in the development of Academic Programmes for East African University of Rwanda and later for the East African University of Nairobi, Kenya. Between 2016 and 2018, he was appointed Senior Lecturer at College of Education, Open and Distance Learning, at Kampala International University. Prince Wasajja was in May 2018 appointed Dean School of Communication and Journalism[2] at University of Kigali. He is Director, Center for Modern Languages at the university of Kigali. [3] The Royal Prince joined University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies as a Professor and Director, Centre for Language and Communication.
He presented three papers in the International Conference on Religion and Extremism, organized by Embassy of Iran in Uganda. In 2017, he presented two papers in the 5th World Journalism Education Congress in Paris, France.
Other Responsibilities
He was nominated and campaigned for position of Member of Parliament for Rubaga South Constituency[4], Kampala on Independent ticket in 2016 National elections[5]
