Wat Phra Non Chak Si Worawihan (or Wat Phra Non Chakkrasi, Thai: วัดพระนอนจักรสีห์วรวิหาร) is a historic Buddhist temple in Singburi Province, central Thailand.
The monastery is classified as a royal temple of the third class. It is believed to have been built before the Ayutthaya period. The interior is distinguished by the enshrining of a large reclining Buddha image called "Phra Non Chak Si" (พระนอนจักรสีห์). This Buddha image is considered one of the largest reclining Buddha images in Thailand, with a length of almost 46 m (150.9 ft) and faces the north.[1]
Phra Non Chak Si is a Sukhothai style Buddha image. Its name "Chaksi" means "Singburi" where it is enshrined.
Historically, assumed in the Ayutthaya period, the area around the temple was the centre of Singburi, and this Buddha image is a spiritual anchor for locals. The battle of the famous Bang Rachan villagers occurred in the late Ayutthaya period. It is believed that the villagers fought to protect their homeland and to protect the image.[2]
