Watch Me Kill
Watch Me Kill is an independent Filipino film directed by Tyrone Acierto who also goes by the name Ty Acierto (or Tye Acierto). It stars television and film actor Jean Garcia. The film also features well-known local talents such as Jay Manalo, Junyka M. Santarin and Rodolfo Muyuela. The film was produced in early 2018 and released in Philippine cinemas nationwide as part of the celebration of "Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019". Watch Me Kill won "Best Director" for Tyrone Acierto, "Best Cinematographer" for Marcin Szocinski and "Best Editing" for Colorado Rutledge for the said Festival. The film was shot using Kodak Super 16mm negative.
Watch Me Kill was filmed in Pampangga, Zambales and parts of Manila.
Watch Me Kill received majority positive reviews from critics citing "the film's grainy, retro look gives it a ragged edge with an early Mad Max feel to it as further punctuated by the equally topnotch production design. The influence of classic filmmakers like Sam Peckinpah and, to a certain extent, Quentin Tarantino is also quite evident..." Film Critic Rod Magaru notes "Acierto's attempt to action movie succeeded when he decided not to overkill the main character. While it is very hard to create such a protagonist in an action film, he managed to deliver Luciana's (Jean Garcia) character into the wild. Jean Garcia on the other hand will surely pass as action heroine with her subtle acquisition of the character that consumes her naturally".
Watch Me Kill will compete in 35th Warsaw Film Festival to be held October 11–20, 2019, in the Free Spirit Category.
