Watson Amelia (ワトソン・アメリア) is a detective virtual YouTuber and game commentator associated with Hololive Production, debuting as part of Hololive English - Myth (stylized as HoloMyth) branch first generation of VTubers alongside Gawr Gura (がうる・ぐら), Ninomae Ina'nis (一伊那尓栖), Mori Calliope (森カリオペ), and Takahashi Kiara (小鳥遊キアラ). She debuted on September 13, 2020, and has amassed over 1.7 million subscribers. Amelia's livestreams primarily focus on entertainment, consisting of Let's Plays, especially FPS games and challenging herself with puzzle games, karaoke, and interacting and chats with her audience.

Amelia heard strange rumors online surrounding hololive: talking foxes, magical squirrels, superhuman dogs, and more. Soon after beginning her investigation on hololive, and just out of interest, she decided to become an idol herself! [1] A private detective and a time traveler. Amelia's name is a reference to the detective character John H. Watson, a fictional character in the Sherlock Holmes stories. Amelia is usually referred to by her fans and gen-mates by the pet-name, Ame (アメ).
Career[edit]
Following the success of its Japanese VTuber lineup, Cover Corporation held auditions for English speakers from April 23 to May 24, 2020[2]. The design of Watson Amelia was illustrated by Nabi[3], and the modeling was done by Naname[4] later on.
Amelia was first introduced on Hololive's twitter accounts[5] and Youtube channel concurrently in a short clip alongside the rest of the rest of the first generation on September 8, 2020[6]. Amelia Watson acknowledged at her audition that she wasn't especially talented at singing or painting, unlike her fellow gen-mates. Despite that, she thought she was good at video games and had an entertaining personality. When Cover replied, telling her to start taking vocal lessons right away, she saw it as a good sign[7]. Prior to auditioning for Hololive, Amelia studied emergency medicine as a fallback as a career.
Amelia's Youtube channel and Twitter account account were created on July 16, 2020. Her Twitter activities began in July, with her first tweet on her first tweet on her official introduction being posted on September 8, 2020[8]. Her first Youtube livestream was broadcasted at September 13 (JST)[9][10], accumulating 100,000 Youtube subscribers on her debut stream; with the VOD gaining over 1,200,000 views as of 2022. By October 25, 2020 Amelia gained 500,000 subscriber milestone being the 17th hololive member to reach it, and subsequently 1,000,000 subscribers on February 11, 2021[11] being the 9th member to reach that milestone.
On June 5, 2021 Amelia hosted the first-ever Fundraiser live stream by a Hololive affiliated streamer. The stream was made to fundraise the Best Friends Animal Society, with the goal to reach USD$100,000; and was achieved in 33 minutes into the stream.[12] The stream raised over USD$230,000.[13] On April 13, 2022 she had her official 3d debut during the Link Your Heart[14] concert hosted by Hololive.
Personality[edit]
Amelia is a hyper active, expressive, short-fused and yet kind individual with a bubbly personality who's often open to help others, especially her own gen-mates. It has been mentioned that she is very helpful in terms of technical knowledge of streaming equipment, Virtual Reality, and her unique, creative ideas for solo and collaborative projects and has been seen in the behind the scenes of productions for her gen-mates streams. Despite all of these positive qualities, Amelia frequently flips into a competitive player in games such as Apex Legends and Valorant and has demonstrated that she can be "salty" and overly defensive of her own faults while also being quite critical of the actions of her teammates.
Amelia is generally mischievous and playfully naughty by pulling off pranks on her fellow gen-mates or even making statements and jokes that would typically be crude or inappropriate.
