WeSea is an international non-profit and non-governmental environmental organisation which aims at raising awareness about ocean ecosystems, in particular the coral reefs of the Red Sea.[1][2], and the threats they face such as climate change and local pollution, through educational projects and conservation actions including reef and beach clean-up events [3][4][5].
WeSea aims at enhancing ocean literacy by making peer-reviewed scientific research accessible to the general public, local communities and decision-makers through information campaigns on social media and public lectures [1], and promoting regional collaboration [6][7]. One of WeSea's main projects includes the #MoveYourButt campaign, which aims at preventing cigarette butt pollution [4][8][9], a toxic plastic pollutant hazardous to the marine biodiversity that yet remain one of the most littered plastic items found on the beach [10]

Officially registered in France, the WeSea organisation has no religious, political or governmental affiliation. It was founded by two marine researchers, Guilhem Banc-Prandi and Benjamin Izbicki, in October 2019.
