We As Web (stylised WE AS WEB) is a Romanian software development and IT services company headquartered in Cluj-Napoca, with delivery operations in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Albania and sales or operating subsidiaries across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. The company provides services including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, custom software development, IT staff augmentation, SAP consulting and application management services.[1][2][3] As of 2025, the group reported consolidated revenue of approximately €66 million and a headcount of more than 1,100 specialists.[1][2]
The company is also a co-founding member of CUBE, an eight-firm Romanian technology alliance launched in Cluj-Napoca in October 2025.[4][5]
History
Founding and pivot (2018–2021)
We As Web was founded in Cluj-Napoca by Gabriel Zahan, a serial entrepreneur, initially as a software product company; Claudiu Câmpean joined the company subsequently.[6][7] The current operating entity, We As Web S.R.L., was registered in 2021 at the time the company pivoted to IT staff augmentation, software development and outsourcing services for international clients.[8]
International expansion (2022–2024)
In 2022 the company opened a delivery centre in Chișinău, Moldova, reporting a half-year turnover of €3.3 million and approximately 250 specialists.[9] By the end of 2023 it had grown to a reported turnover of approximately €25 million, around 500 employees and operations covering Romania, Moldova and Albania, with sales offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and the United States.[10][11][12]
In early 2024 the company announced offices in Switzerland, Israel, Australia and New Zealand, and broadened its service portfolio with dedicated practice lines for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, SAP consulting and application management services.[13][10] The company stated that it had cumulatively invested more than €15 million in employee salaries, benefits and development by that point.[13]
AI Lab and CUBE (2024–2025)
In 2024 the company established an internal AI Lab focused on applied research and the integration of artificial intelligence into software-delivery processes, headed by Robert Pop.[1][2][7] In late 2025 We As Web was one of eight Romanian technology firms that founded the CUBE joint venture (see § CUBE joint venture).[4][5]
Corporate structure
We As Web operates as a multi-entity group rather than a single legal entity. The parent operating company in Romania is WE AS WEB S.R.L., registered in 2021 in Cluj-Napoca.[8][1] Romanian public filings (Ministry of Finance data, as cited by Ziarul Financiar) report aggregate Romanian-entity turnover of approximately €22.24 million in 2024, against a consolidated group figure of €35 million for the same year.[1][14]
In 2025, of the consolidated €66 million in group revenue, approximately €50 million was generated by the group's Romanian entities and €16 million by entities outside Romania.[1][2][3]
Operations
Services
We As Web's service portfolio centres on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, alongside custom software development, IT staff augmentation, SAP consulting, application management services and product strategy and development.[13][10][14] The company provides these services to clients in industries including financial services, manufacturing, retail and digital platforms.[2][3] Within Romania the company maintains staff in Brașov, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.[10][1]
The product strategy and development division, launched in late 2023, has been led by Iulian Pădurariu, a Romanian entrepreneur previously associated with Pony Car Sharing, SeedBlink and Cruiser Aviation.[15]
AI Lab
The internal AI Lab established in 2024 is described in coverage as an engineering-led competency centre developing applied AI use cases for enterprise clients, and hosts in-person meetups of the Cluj AI Community.[1][7] Head of AI Robert Pop has said in interviews that wider adoption of AI tooling in client projects has increased, rather than reduced, demand for experienced developers at the firm.[1][3][7]
Clients
Named enterprise clients reported in independent coverage include Porsche, ING, Orange, Erste Group, Lidl and Lufthansa.[6][15] Ziarul Financiar reported that the company served more than 80 clients as of early 2025.[14]
Partnerships
We As Web has publicly announced strategic partnerships with the British–Dutch consultancy AND Digital and with Orange Business Romania, and has co-organised initiatives on practical AI adoption with the Romanian software firm Smartbot.[15][14]
CUBE joint venture
On 22 October 2025, We As Web was officially announced in Cluj-Napoca as one of the eight founding members of CUBE, a Romanian technology alliance structured as an asociere în participațiune (unincorporated joint venture) rather than a separate company.[4][5] The other founders are Evozon, Taz IT, ddroidd, CyberGlobal, Atracore, Softex and Zega Software; combined revenue of the eight members at launch exceeded €100 million, with more than 2,000 specialists.[4][5] Gabriel Zahan represents We As Web on the alliance's board.[4]
The alliance has publicly projected first-year business volumes of between €3 million and €7 million, with the Nordics (initially Sweden) targeted for international expansion in 2026.[4]
