History

Webgears Group was founded in 2010 by Alexander Bitsche (Co-CEO), Daniel Ender, and Tobias Klien. [3][5] [4] The company was bootstrapped from Daniel’s grandmother’s house in Austria.[5] They entered into the German market with Gutscheinsammler.de, after launching in Austria with Preisjäger.at and Sparfreunde.com.[5] [4] In 2012, Fabian Spielberger and Paul Nikkel came on board as strategic partners and investors. In 2013 they launched into the UK market and in 2014 they launched in the USA, further expansion followed in 2015 into France and the Netherlands.[4] In 2016, they continued to grow into Italy, Spain, Canada, and India markets.[1] After selling Preisjäger.at and Sparfreunde.com to Pepper Media Holding in 2015, the company focused on Voucherbox.co.uk, Couponbox.com, and Gutscheinsammler.de. [6] In 2015, the company focused on affiliate partnerships with media groups, such as Computer BILD. [3] In 2017, the company pulled its branches from the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia, and India to concentrate on its three core markets (US, UK and Germany).[3]

In 2021, Alexander Bitsche became the majority shareholder. [7] [5] Today, Webgears reaches 300,000 daily users.[5]
